Ms Asiya Al-Tawash, a co-founder of the Muslim National School Clonskeagh, the first state-funded primary school for Muslim children in Europe, retired from her teaching duties at the end of April 2018, after many years of dedicated service.

In order to mark such an important occasion, the pupils and the staff of the MNS Clonskeagh have prepared an amazing surprise assembly for her during which they thanked and remembered her amazing and long-standing work, dedication and love for the school and the pupils.

To acknowledge this in a small way, the MPEB held a dinner on May 4 2018, where in attendance were our Patron, Imam Yahya M. Al-Hussein, current Principal of MNS Clonskeagh; Ms Larkin, the Principal of North Side Muslim Primary School; Mr Walsh as well as the former principals of the MNS Clonskeagh; Ms Brennan and Mr McGlade.

The school was established by the Islamic Foundation of Ireland in 1990.  The idea of a Muslim national school in Dublin was prompted by the growing number of Muslim families and a deep felt need for an education which would keep in focus the values of the Islamic faith.
