Sha­heen Ahmed - Secretary-General

Shaheen Ahmed

Shaheen Ahmed, originally from Pakistan, has lived in Dublin since 1981. Naturalised as an Irish citizen in 1984, Shaheen has worked tirelessly for Muslim integration in Ireland over the last 30 years. One of the founding member of the Muslim National School, Shaheen was the first chairperson of the school’s Board of Management. He currently holds positions as President of the Pakistan Welfare and Cultural Association of Ireland, PR–Coordinator of the Islamic Cultural Centre of Ireland and General Secretary of the Muslim Primary Education Board.

Shaheen has worked extensively with successive governments and various bodies on behalf of the Islamic community. Educated first at Islamia College Civil Lines and Punjab University Lahore in Pakistan, Shaheen holds an MBA from the Michael Smurfit College of Business in UCD. He comes from a strong sporting background, having played competitive badminton in Pakistan, Germany and Ireland, as well as top cricket for a number of Irish teams.


Asiya Al-Tawash - Chairperson

Asiya Al-Tawash

Asiya Al Tawash has been involved in the education of Muslim children for the last twenty-six years. As an experienced teacher and educator, she is a founding member of the Muslim National School Clonskeagh and has served both as Secretary and Chair to the Board of Management of the school. 

Asiya has also been appointed as a representative of the boards of management at the Teaching Council of Ireland

She has represented the Islamic Foundation of Ireland and Muslim Primary Education Board (MPEB) in a number of educational forums and is currently the Chairperson of the MPEB.  


Qaasim Abdel­hafez

Qaasim Abdulhafidh

Qaasim Abdulhafidh is a finance professional with over 15 years’ experience in the charity field.  He is actively involved in the community on a wide range of projects and activities on a voluntary basis.  He is a board member of Muslim Primary Education Board and Shaheeda Zainab Independent Muslim Primary School.  

He is the Chairperson of North Dublin Muslim National School and previously a director and secretary of Noor Community Centre for Kids (NCCK).  His spare time revolves around spending time with family, a keen sports enthusiast and loves football and fishing.


Irfan Hameed

Irfan Hameed

Irfan Hameed is the CEO at Intax and Registered Statutory auditor and Business Consultant with extensive experience of Accounting, Audit, Finance and Tax.

Over 15 years’ experience for international business setup and corporate structuring. Well-developed project management and strategic skills. Proven ability to direct corporate and business financial operations.

Irfan developed and implemented new programs to increase efficiency and reduce costs. Comprehensive background in Business Set-up, Franchise International Tax Planning, financial planning and administration. Professionally qualified as FCCA and AIPA. 


Fardus Sultan

Fardus Sultan

Fardus is a Co-founder/Director of FarendNet Ltd, an IT consultancy and digital marketing company. Fardus also lectures in marketing and business computing and is completing a PhD on the topic of children in the online environment in the context of digital media literacy.  As a Politics and Arabic graduate from the UCD, a holder of iDTP Master Diploma in Graphic Design, Fardus also holds a first-class honours in M.Sc. in Cyberpsychology, where she also received the "Student of the Year" award. Being passionate about supporting children's positive time online and together with her academic and professional engagement, Fardus also delivers interactive workshops to both adults as well as Irish primary school-age children on digital literacy.  

With over 20 years of experience of serving on various boards of management, Fardus is currently a board director of the Glencree Centre for Peace & Reconciliation and a founding member of Sisters of Faith for Peace to mention just a few. She is also a PPN representative at Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council Special Policy Committee on Economic Development and Enterprise.


Sharukh Mirza 

Shahrukh Mirza

Shahrukh Mirza, a finance professional and a qualified chartered certified accountant with over 17 year's experience in the financial services industry within Ireland, joined the Board in April 2014. 

Shahrukh is actively involved within the Muslim community in Ireland and also holds a position within the finance and audit committee in the Islamic Foundation of Ireland.

 


 

Nadia Grogan - Secretary

Nadia Grogan is the only employed member of the MPEB and she provides administrative support to both the members of the Board as well as serving as the first point of the contact for the public.
