The Teaching Council has launched the new Féilte Bursary, valued at €100,000.

The Teaching Council’s Féilte event has been held annually since 2012. Each year, Féilte featured dozens of showcases, workshops and teachmeets being held, and much more. The annual event supported and facilitated teachers’ professional learning in many ways, including through conversations, sharing of ideas, and creating a space for teachers to connect with each other.

In place of the annual Féilte event, the Teaching Council has established a Féilte Bursary.

The Féilte Bursary is designed to support a culture of professional collaboration and knowledge sharing amongst teachers and schools. The bursary scheme is also designed to promote teaching as a profession.

Schools will be able to apply for bursaries of €2,000€3,000, and €5,000 to support collaborative professional learning activities in their school communities.

This bursary serves two key purposes:

  1. Building Collaborative Professional Communities: The bursary is designed to support the creation and sustainability of professional learning communities.
  2. Promoting the Teaching Profession:Each bursary recipient will be required to create a digital asset that showcases their professional learning activities, which will be used to promote the teaching profession more broadly.

Application deadline is December 5th 2024

Further information about the Féilte bursary is available to view on the Teaching Council's  website.
